Great advice
So I followed the advice given regarding Fudge's setup. The difference in him has been amazing. He is much friendlier and seems to be a good deal happier.
The only thing I would say is that he still doesn't run on his wheel. It is a 20cm wheel that came with his cage. He was only young when we got him and has never shown much interest. I have ordered the 28cm wooden wheel from Zooplus so I'm hoping after that is installed he will finally use his wheel. I'm looking to hang it from the top of the cage. What do people use to hang it?

Re: Great advice
When I have hung a wheel from the top of the cage, I have used cable ties as others here have done. Not sure what the base of your new wheel is like but the cable ties will be strong enough and should be long enough I think.

Re: Great advice
Wheel arrived and us installed. It is huge and certainly no arched back from Fudge. He is running on the wheel more than I have seen him run on his other one. It does take up a huge amount of space. I'm worried he doesn't have much space for anything else now.

Re: Great advice
If I remember correctly, you have the Sky Metro cage? I’ve used Savic Ruffy (same cage without any tubes etc) for my Syrian and I think the low height makes the cage look smaller with the wheel. There should still be plenty of space tho! Maybe his set up needs rearranging slightly accommodate the new wheel? You could also look into getting some large platforms to add another level of space?

Re: Great advice
Yes it is the sky metro. I have added extra levels through the use of grass hammocks. I'll need to leave any more moving until next big clean as he was a bit stressed as I only did a full clean at the weekend as I thought the wheel would fit the space I left for it but it didn't so I had to move again.

Re: Great advice
I remember a tutorial on fixing a wood wheel to a cage - can’t remember where but they took som screws out to reomive the bad from the wheel stand and had the wheel and stand inside the cage and the base outside the cage and re-screwed the base back on through the cage. Cable ties woukdn’t be Secure enough for a wood wheel. To be honest that wheel is so nice and sturdy it does better stood in the cage. I used to just have lower substrate in that area. Or you could attach wood legs to the base so it stands a bit higher and makes a hide underneath.

Re: Great advice
Yes I have had to lower the substrate but with heavy duty cable ties the wheel is nice and secure and doing a fab job! DIY truly isn't my thing lol
