Re: Does this set up look ok?
They'll be fine If you want to try Fitch you can order it from the link below. Amazon sells it too but it comes direct from the same place and costs more at Amazon. When I switched over from the pine shavings I mixed the fitch and shavings for a while and then eventually went over to the Fitch completely. You'll find, if you mix them that hammies take bits of the Fitch to their nest as well as it's nice and soft I get the 10kg bag as it's easier to store in the house.
I noticed the website has changed recently and the 10kg bag is labelled for dogs and puppies and the 20kg one for horses! But it's all the same stuff and good for hamsters too.

I always keep my hamsters on paper-based bedding Just to be on the safe side. I guess its just a controversial topic xD

Ok ive measurwd and the holes arw 3.5cm so I've taken it out just incase she does try and squeeze through. I'll replace it with an empty toilet roll.

Re: Does this set up look ok?
Yes it's a shame - the log would have been perfect for a dwarf hamster. There was a hamster on here though who tried to get through a small window in a house and got wedged - it was all very stressful. They managed to save him but it meant sawing the house while he was stuck in it and he bit the owner a lot during the process. Our first syrian also got stuck in some of those plastic savic tubes! He was a very large syrian though.
Pringles tubes are good for a tunnell Washed out of course.

Re: Does this set up look ok?
Also if you're feeling flush, this hyacinth tunnel is excellent - one of my favourite toys. It has holes in both sides that are plenty big enough for a syrian and it's also chewable - it's nice and soft.

Toilet roll and pringles tube as well would go down well.

depending on the size of the Syrian/tube maybe cut a slit down the side of it for an extra precaution?

Re: Does this set up look ok?
Yes good point Hammyloi - always best to slit the toilet roll inner down one side Then it expands.

Is this safe for a hamster?
Trixie Hammock for Mice/Hamsters, 18 x 18 Centimeter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000OLYC..._LcT0BbPJNXPBH
I've also ordered a sputnik to go on the floor in the corner of the cage to use as a toilet/sandbath/extra hidey hole.
