Flying saucer wheel so loud!
Hi I just got a flying saucer wheel and it’s so loud it’s not rubbing against anything and it’s making some sort of a rattle noise.
I really want to fix this as it’s Coco’s favourite thing and she would be so disheartened if I took it away.
It is keeping me awake at night and I would really appreciate it if someone knows a fix.
*Sorry if you are seeing me everywhere*

Re: Flying saucer wheel so loud!
You could try oiling it maybe but from what I remember (haven't used one for years now10 they can be very noisy & not a lot you can do about it, you might be better just getting a good upright wheel if you want something that will be quiet.

It is the ware flying saucer, it makes a rattling noise as if it is banging on the plastic which it isn’t.

Well that certainly isn’t normal so if it’s new I’d try taking it back. Though I did see she’s in a zoozone 1 so do you have the small 6.5” saucer in there? If so it’s much too small for a Syrian and you’d need to remove it anyway.

Re: Flying saucer wheel so loud!
Well I am using the 6.5 one as she struggles to push the 12 as she is a baby, when she is older I will be upgrading her to it though.

Re: Flying saucer wheel so loud!
The top of the wheel is kinda wobbly, maybe that is causing the rattle?

Re: Flying saucer wheel so loud!
I’ve just inspected my new 6.5” saucer and if there’s more pressure on it than what it’s designed for (ie a Syrian), it does rattle like you describe. For my robo it’s not an issue but I can definitely see how it would be with anything much larger.
Even for a baby Syrian I wouldn’t provide this size saucer as I’m sure her back will be at a funny angle while running. Have you got an upright wheel? Flying saucers are not a substitute for an upright wheel especially for Syrians, they’re more of a toy. The 12” saucer is enormous and will take up half the cage so if you do get it, maybe leave it for playtime unless you have a very large cage.

Re: Flying saucer wheel so loud!
I had a upright wheel but it broke, any recommendations on good silent wheels + sizes.
