Default cages for dwarf hamsters

Are the bars on the Savic hamster heaven too large for a robo hamster.

1cm spacing is generally ok for adult robos but it’s not really worth the risk with babies. You’d be best off with a tank/plastic cage or a lower cage with narrower spacing for babies. The Mickey 2XL with 7mm spacing is on amazon at the moment for £75 which isn’t bad, and is a little more suitable.

The hh has 9.5mm bar spacing which should be fine for any dwarf hamsters.

I currently have a dwarf hybrid in mine with no issues. A tank is your safest option as mangoandmimi points out.

I have had a few baby robos in 1cm spacing cages with no issues at all.

I have the Slavic mickey 2xl and love it - it’s great for a Robo with it’s narrow bars (7mm mouse bar spacing) and one of the few lower height cages to avoid fall risks. £75 is a good price for it - it’s usually about £86. It’s also fine for any species of hamster. It’s basically the hamster heaven with narrow bar spacing and different contents. The wire shelf needs to come out. It’s a well made sturdy cage as well. The Hh does have 1cm bar spacing I believe. As the others say it may be fine for an adult Robo but I’m a bit cautious and went with the 7mm bar spacing (initial reason was for a Syrian to make sure it was mouse proof when we had a mouse problem!

I have the Duna Multy (71x 46cm) for my Robo, it’s a tank tyle cage with bars only on the top. I believe the bar spacing is 7mm? I love it for my robo because he makes quite a lot of mess burrowing so I dont have to worry about substrate getting through the bars. Its currently only £43.99 on Porton Aquapet too!

The Duna Multy Maxi 99x51cm has the same bar spacing if you want a larger tank style cage.

I have used the duna multy too. And also a zoozone, the smaller one it's about the same size as the duna multy and easy to clean because it doesn't have the ridges on the bottom that duna cages have
