Default Should I keep the box in his cage?

Hi all, I have just brought my hamster home, and was wondering whether its best to leave the little cardboard box he travelled home in, in his cage whilst he settles, or if it would be a bad idea as he might stay in there and not explore? Thanks in advance.

I would open it up and let him keep it for a bit. Mostly they will just choose to chew it up so that should be just fine. Let us know how he settles.

Thank you! I've popped him in the cage with the box open and left him to do his own thing Once he's settled and I've decided on a name, I'll do a proper introduction!

I agree with Souffle. They will use it as a chew toy. However some hamster like to make a house from it

Mother of the world's smartest Syrian, Hamper! Well, maybe not the world's smartest but he's the smartest hamster I've ever seen! I'm also the aunt of the deadly vampire Ruby! He's not actually deadly or vampiric but we like to pretend
