Replacing base on Barney cage

My Barney cage came damaged - no surprise there. I was so desperate to use it for my syrian that even though I emailed Zooplus about it, I never pursued a replacement or a refund. This proved to be a big mistake as my hamster chewed through the duct tape and escaped.

I have kept the cage, with the broken base and obviously I wont be using it again unless I can get a replacement base - I'm not going to be so stupid as to duct tape it again.

I have emailed Zooplus explaining what's happened and asking to buy just a base but they want pictures of the damage etc.. I can't be bothered with the hassle of moving it to take pictures etc... I just want to buy a new base.

Has anyone bought just a base for this cage?

I would take the pictures and send them off. You can say you had no option but to use it as you had nowhere else to house your hamster.
It is possible to repair them using perspex and glue however it depends on the place where the damage is. If it is a hole you can use a metal washer and bolt to cover this.
I'm not sure you can buy just the base. You can look out on ebay and see if there is a second hand one around though there are usually collection only. There is one just now in Sheffield for £15. Also look on preloved and Gumtree in your area.
I'd pursue the damaged one though if i were you.
