Savic hamster heaven cage
Hey, can I have some thoughts on the savic hamster heaven cage for a Syrian? I’ve seen some great reviews and all the ratings are 5 stars the only problems I’ve seen are simple ones you can change. I’m considering buying this for my approximately 9 month old male Syrian (got on 17th December 2017) but would like some thoughts.
Thank you

Re: Savic hamster heaven cage
The HH is on the small side for a Syrian, it's ok as a starter cage or if you're really short on space but far from ideal, you'd do better with something like the Barney, Alexander or Alaska. or the Savic Plaza.

Re: Savic hamster heaven cage
The HH is quite expensive for a 80x50cm cage! If you’re short on space, I’d recommend the Alaska. It’s also 80x50 but only £31.99 on zooplus compared to the £69.99 for the HH, leaving you with a spare £37 to spend on toys and accessories. It doesnt come with the fancy platforms and tunnels but most the time those need removing anyway either for safety reasons or just to make space for Syrian sized toys and a 28cm wheel.
If you have the space, I’d really reccomend getting a 100x50cm cage such as the Barney (£54.99 on zooplus) or the Alexander (£69.99 on zooplus). 20cm extra space doesnt seem like a lot to a human but too a hamster it really is! Both cages come with natural wooden platforms which is safer for hamsters that like to chew as well. Though some of platforms in the Alexander would need removing to make space for a 28cm wheel.

Re: Savic hamster heaven cage
Agree with the others - I have the Barney for our Syrian He was in a cage the size of the Hamster Heaven before - it was ok but he needed a 12" wheel and it took up most of the cage! An 11" wheel fits fine in it though. The Barney is good value as it comes with a good sized house for a syrian and a shelf. If it's too big then the Alexander or Savic plaza have a slightly smaller footprint.

Re: Savic hamster heaven cage
I love the hh for a dwarf hamster and also for an elderly syrian but would prefer the barney or similar size for a young syrian.
Good luck with your choice.
