Will thos work for a bin cage?
I’m looking at making a Bin Cage for Sunflower Custard but the only 100cm bin I could find is this Really Useful Box storage trunk (105 x 50 x 50cm) Buy Really Useful 160 Litre Heavy Duty Trunk with Handles | Plastic storage boxes and units | Argos
It seems like a regular Really Useful Box only on wheels and with a reinforced lid + handle so I’m assuming will work well as a bin cage?

Don’t see why it couldn’t work. Potential messy mesh situation on the lid as the lid looks to have crossing plastic below the top which is not ideal. Additionally those raised wheel bits id keep an eye on if you have a chewy Syrian. I personally wouldn’t pay £30 for it when there’s a Barney for an extra £25 but it’s a possibility.

Id probably completely replace the lid like I did for my old bin cage or just get someone else to mesh it for me haha I’m lookng into tanks but theyre all around £100+ which is a lot of money for a glass/plastic box.
Sunflower Custard loves to climb and honestly Climby syrians in barred cages terrifies me (one of my childhood hamsters caught his leg climbing and i found him the next morning hanging upside down with a broken leg having died of shock).

Oh that sounds really stressful finding your poor hamster like that.
I find that the close bars like the barney seem less easy for hamsters to climb but I do understand your reservations about barred cages after something so traumatic.
