Default 2nd hand savic sky metro £30 is this a good deal?

I'm looking to upgrade Fungus from a 3 storey iMac fantasy. I was hoping for a savic plaza but it's a bit expensive and it may be a bit tight for space. There's a listing on gumtree for £30 and includes a few toys and a playpen although I know won't be suitable for Syrians as they can escape from them. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Here's a week pic of fungus, we've had her about 2 weeks. She's still a bit jumpy when we try to lift her but we get her out with her ball then play with her in the hall and she climbs over us and shes nibbled us once each but doesn't bite. She even licks my daughter through the cage. She's our 2nd hamster, ginger died 15 days after a stroke, she actually died on my daughters lap, she was was snuggling and my daughter shouted on me as she looked as though she was struggling to breathe, she opened her mouth really wide twice then passed away, it was quite traumatic but she has had a long life, we had her for 25 months, not sure how old she was but must have been quite young when we got her. She is sadly missed as she was the most gentle hamster ive known. I had 4 hamsters when I was young but that was about 20 years previous. Now Fungus is my daughters 2nd.

She is a little cutie I quite like the Metro cage and the baby hamsters we have homed to families with this cage have all done well in them. Some people have not used the tubes though as the hamsters do sometimes tend to sleep, eat and wee in there but you can just put a ramp up to the shelf and put a stopper on the tube exits. You can get a decent sized wheel in these cages too. £30 is a good price.

I'm so tempted by this, the only thing putting me off is that it doesn't come with a solid ledge which would be better for putting other toys on. Ive had a look online and eBay but can't seem to find any. I'm not sure what to do.

The ones we had didn't bother about ledges as they did like the little walkways There is plenty room on the bottom to put toys and things. You do need a freestanding wheel if the hammy is small because if it's on the bars small hammies cannot get up to it though you can make a step up for the wheel.

I think it would be a good buy. The basic cage on its own is very good - without any of the tubes etc. I had a cage the same size (almost exactly the same cage but smaller bar spacing) - I used a large flat roof house in it and that doubled up as a shelf Something like a shoebox - cut the bottom out and use the lid as a lift off roof/platform to put the food bowl on etc. And cut a hole in for a door. Makes a good nesting box. You could put a bendy bridge tunnel over the door as well (they seem to like a tunnel entrance) and that also makes a ramp up onto the roof.

If the cage comes with toys etc I would wash/disinfect everything well before use and wouldn't use any wood items it comes with - they are hard to disinfect.

Thanks for the replies but unfortunately it's gone ☹️I went to contact yesterday but couldn't find the listing. I'm saving up and hopefully have enough in a few weeks for a new cage.

The Alaska cage is the same size and £32 new, the Barney is bigger (100x50cm) and only £55. Both of them are on zooplus with free shipping

I'm going to go for the Barney or Savic Plaza. I've got a 10% discount code for pets at home so will get the plaza for £67.50. Any thoughts between them.

The plaza . It has a nice big front opening door. I have the Barney - if I didn’t I’d get the plaza. If space is a bit tight too the Plaza has a slightly smaller footprint. The Barney is quite deep. 4cm deeper doesn’t sound much but it makes it quite bulky. The plaza is a bit taller by a couple of cm so you’d need a good depth of substrate to cushion any falls. But that’s ok as you won’t need to do clean outs so often when you have plenty of substrate in. My top tip would be to get a litter tray. Helps keep the cage clean.
