Which Cage? Advice please
So I got my gorgeous female dwarf hybrid last week and when I was in P@H yesterday with my sister looking at the toys, I seen a cutie of a Syrian up for adoption. That now has me wanting a Syrian too, preferably one I can adopt.
Now I was going to buy the Alaska cage from Zooplus and it's 80x50. I was thinking of putting my dwarf in the Alaska and putting my future hamster in the barney cage my dwarf in currently in. The bar spacing in the Barney is 7mm and the Alaska in 0.9cm. If I did put my dwarf in the Alaska, is the bar spacing too big? would she escape? Or do you think my future Syrian would be ok in the Alaska instead of the Barney? Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I have a hybrid dwarf in the alaska. He is lively and inquisitive and small and has never escaped. A friend made an extra level which is very handy.

As FF said, your dwarf will do just fine in the Alaska! I’ve never heard of hams having any issues with this cage, other than them being troublesome if you have a particularly persistent chewer. The Barney would work well for a Syrian, so no need to worry about that

Re: Which Cage? Advice please
I would be very wary of putting a Russian ham in the Alaska due to it's height & the risk of falls as most Russians will try to climb the bars & as most have no clue about getting down again once they've climbed up they tend to just let go & fall.
If you're very careful with your set up you can make it safe but it's still a bit of a risk, a cage which isn't so high is a better & safer option.

Oo dear. I have never seen Popcorn trying to climb the bars but will keep a look out just in case.
What would you advise to minimise fall risks?
