Question for those who have the Barney cage
I think I'm going to order a Barney cage for the new Syrian I'm planning to get.
Is it strong enough to put an Alaska on top? I already have a very elderly Syrian in an Alaska.

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
I would say that it is strong enough, but it will limit access to do this. The main opening is on the top and the two front doors are pretty small. It's a great cage, though.

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
Yeah I've seen that the doors are way smaller, I was tempted to just get a second Alaska because the front door is so great but I did want something bigger for all my future Syrians and then use the Alaska for dwarfs. I think I'll have to sacrifice the ease of access, the extra space for the ham is more important to me ^_^

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
I haven’t put anything on top of my hamsters Barney cage. The top bars were slightly bowed when it arrived.
You may be able to get a table and have one cage under it and one cage on top.

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
Do you know of a table that's big enough and high enough to have a big cage underneath? I tried to find one but struggled

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
Unfortunately I don’t know of a table that could be used. You are more likely to find one that the Alaska could fit under or you may be able to make one.

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
When I had my tow hamsters I used this folding table
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And put the Alexander (which is pretty close to the barney) and had the zoo one 2 underneath it. Pretty sure the Alaska would fit underneath.
The link says this table is no longer available but it’s just to give you an idea. There’s loads more similar tables on amazon that would work.
Though a plastic table can be a bit of an eye sore so if you want something more permanent, I think Ikea might have something. Worth a look anyway.

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
I used a 100x60 Ikea linnmon table (really cheap and looks nice) and put a barney on top and a 80x50cm cage underneath at one point, that would allow you to access the Barney from the top.

I can't get to an Ikea, my nearest one is in another city and on their website it says delivery is £35 :O

Re: Question for those who have the Barney cage
I wouldn't put another cage on top of the Barney - it's long and the bars aren't that strong so the top would bow under the weight. Plus as mentioned above you really need to use the top and side doors for reasonable access.
I was also going to suggest something from Ikea which is cheap and the right size. It's true delivery is expensive (and tends to be slow) but might be worth it if the item is cheap enough!
I've looked at things on Amazon but never found anything cheap. The Alaska would fit underneath and the Barney on top

You can get the Linmon table on Amazon. It's quite tall but you could always shorten the legs.
