Russian Dwarf in an Alaska cage?

I currently have a 27 month old Syrian who lives in an Alaska cage, and a 22 month old Winter White in a duna fun. (She did have a bigger cage, but she seemed so terrified and hid all the time, I don't think she felt safe in the open space so I put her back in a smaller one and she seemed to do better in it, she is a particularly tiny thing even for a dwarf)

I've had them both since babies, I am aware they probably only have a few more months left with us. So, for my 20th birthday in a couple of weeks my partner has agreed I can get a new baby Syrian (even though I just got my first baby guinea pigs 4 weeks ago, he's an enabler of my addiction!).

I'll be ordering a Barney cage for him. My question is, when my current Syrian is no longer with us, is it okay to put a new dwarf in the Alaska? Is the bar spacing okay? I'll make sure theres lots of shelves and hammocks and bridges etc because of the height.
So then I'll have a new Syrian in a Barney and a new dwarf in the Alaska, and get rid of the Duna fun/keep it as a travel/hospital cage. I'm just worried a young dwarf could escape an Alaska.

It would be fine, would only really be concerned if it was a baby robo or maybe chinese with 1cm bar spacing but I’ve had plenty of russian dwarves do just fine in them (even little ones).

It would be fine - I would disinfect the cage and air it well first so no traces of smell of pet disinfectant.

The bar spacing should be ok unless it's a roborovski. The main issue is the height which is quite tall for a dwarf hamster so there could be fall risks. That can be got round though - the deeper the bedding the more it reduces the effective height and gives a soft landing if they happen to climb to the roof and drop (which they can do). Additional shelving may help also and making sure there are no hard or sharp items to land on - ie put those on or under shelves.

I have a small hybrid hamster in the alaska. He has a second level made of ply and has never tried to climb the bars.
