Big gap underneath Savic penthouse

The penthouse finally arrived yesterday and I have spent the last twenty minutes or so trying to attach it to the cage with no success. The small top cage door will only click to the house if there is a gap between the roof of the cage and the penthouse. The front slots and back slots are going exactly where they should be. Does this sound right or have I just got a faulty one? If there is meant to be a sizable gap, I'll just not use it and attach her large wire hamster cage from Pets at Home back to her Savic hamster heaven again.

That is a big gap, I don't know if they're all like that as I binned the penthouse without even trying it, it's not really of any use for a hamster & if they decide to sleep, store food & pee in it as will often happen then it just becomes a bit of a health hazard so I wouldn't recommend using it anyway.

I've ditched the penthouse and threw it in the bin. I wouldn't imagine cleaning it would be pleasant either especially with all the urine soaked bedding and food etc.
