Default Completed bin cage for my new fury friend!

Hello everyone

I’ve just set up my bin cage for my new syrian hamster who I will hopefully be getting tomorrow or early next week. I wanted to see if anyone thought there was anything drastically wrong with it before I house an animal in it as obviously I want the best for my future pet. It’s the biggest IKEA SAMLA tub they do, the dimensions of the inside floor are roughly 486 sq inches and I have about 2.5 inches of Carefresh lining the bottom. I’m going to see how I go with only mesh on the lid but it wouldn’t be too difficult to cut into the sides too. Where it is in my room is shaded from my window by my wardrobe and wouldn't have any direct sunlight on it. Any feedback welcome. I hope these photos show up, it's the first time I've used the image uploader.

EDIT: Drat!! Sorry about the typo in the thread title! Obviously I meant furry. I hope he/she won't be furious!

Once you get your hamster, see how it looks drinking from the water bottle and adjust the height if needed.

Adding mesh to the front may be nice, as it would be easier to see your hamster and allow you to feed through the bars easier and allow your hamster to sniff you. This could help with taming.

Thank you so much for the tips. The water bottle is attached by a long piece of Velcro so it will be very easy to adjust the height.

I cut another window out of the front would probably be a days work, but I plan to buy a travel cage for when I go home for Christmas or whatever so I can transfer the hammy into that for a day.
