Smile Best Chew/Nail Trimming Toys

I'm wondering what people have decided are the best things to give to hamsters to help keep their teeth and nails trimmed? I've been using apple sticks but sometimes Butternut doesn't seem super thrilled. I know he doesn't need to use it every day and when he does use it he really goes after it but I'm wondering if there are any other things people have found to be really helpful. I would like something natural and completely non-toxic. Thanks!

Whimzees dental chews are the best ones for their teeth and most hamsters love it as it made of potato starch. Preferably go with the toothbrush ones. Nails can be kept trim by having a decent amount of sand in the sand bath and also things to climb like bendy bridges etc.

As long as your hamster eats a good mix then teeth shouldn't be a problem, many hamsters enjoy chews but they aren't essential, I can understand you wanting to keep things natural but a lot don't enjoy chewing on wood that much, another option is dandelion root but not too much or too often due to it's medicinal properties, whimzees do tend to be the favourite chew with most hams.
Most natural rough surfaces will help with keeping nails trim to some extent, you can use a granite tile in an area where they walk over it frequently or some stones, not smooth ones, you do have to be careful with arranging stones in the cage to be sure they are completely safe though.
As Razor mentioned the sand bath will help if your ham enjoys digging in it.

Carrots can be used as chew, just not too often as it is like eating candy for them. Same can be said about those honeyglazed rodnet seed sticks you can buy, carrots is better.
Fresh aple branches with leaves, by my experience all rodnets I had in the past, liked bark of fresh brenches, but would let the wood be untouch. Millet strands youcan buy for birds would also keep the teeth too.
