Change of layout, when's to soon?
As some of you may know (posting so often here XD) I've had Luna the WW Hybrid for less then a week. She lives in a double stack diy bin cage. I haven't begun training her and have now just realize an issue.
I though the double stack cage was a good idea. Now I see its not so good, I am short 5'1 and need a step ladder to reach the top which makes it hard.
I don't want to change so soon cause she's just still adjusting but wondering when's a good time to work on her cages. I want to make them side by side so its easier to reach in rather then lifting both up to fixing things.
Should I begin taming with my current layout or should I fix her layout now letting her re-adjust and then tame.

If your current set up isn't working then I wouldn't wait to improve it, giving them a better home can often make taming easier, it may take your ham a while to settle again after the change so give her a few days & see how she is, if you're a bit unsure just go slowly with the taming.

Ah thank you, I'll fix it asap tomorrow since its late now. My only worry is that she'll need to moved out of the boxes for this and she's not tamed yet. Should I wait till she's asleep or awake and would it be wiser to use a cup to transfer her?
I'll start from scratch with her if need be and give her time to settle, I'm just worry if she'll never trust me. Though I think its probably better for her and myself if the access to her cages are easy ^^;

Re: Change of layout, when's to soon?
I would try to move her when she's awake if possible, it will be less stressful than waking her up.
See if you can get her to climb into a large cup, tube, small cardboard box or something you can put your hand over to prevent her jumping out when you move her, you may need to put a tasty treat inside to entice her!
Do you have somewhere safe like a carrier to put her while you do the cage? Put enough substrate in whatever you use so she can just burrow down & sleep while you do it if it's going to take a while, even if it's not for long she'll feel safer with some substrate to hide in.

True, thank you I'll try to catch her when she's awake, no doubt she'll borrow down into her hole. I'll prepare the small bin I have for her before I add her in. I'm prepared for hisses and bites ~ m ~;; I feel bad for only realizing my mistake now.
Thanks so much for your tips, hopefully all goes well and it's not to stressful, it shouldn't take longer then 20-30mins to make the changes but I'm sure it'll be scary for her.

I'm sure she'll get over it quickly. When you put her in the small bin, hide bits of food in it and a few treats, a piece of cucumber and a chew and a small house (or cut down tissue box to make a house eg) - it'll keep her happy and distracted for ages foraging for the food etc.

Hopefully she'll recover from my blunder ^^;; Thank you as well for the tip! That's a good idea, least she can feel a bit safer in the smaller bin while I work.
