Lightbulb Hamster Cage themes?!!

So recently I have been watching a few YouTube videos of hamster owners who decorate there hamster homes to a certain theme each time they clean them out, for example desert theme or under the sea theme, and they use all creative things like wrapping paper as the back drop. It seems like a really cool but time consuming and costly Idea do any of you do it? If so share some pics x

I haven't done it - it's probably easier to do with a tank than with a cage. It maybe depends on the hamster as well - a lot of hamsters wouldn't like all that change each time and would find it stressful, but some hamsters are ok with the variety Generally though, they prefer their set up to stay the same and familiar, although it's always good to add the odd new toy or chew for interest.

I have an Alaska hamster cage, no tank (though I really want one lol) and I try to keep my cage setup as natural as I can with the space I have. I really love the big tank setups Germany tends to have for their hamsters.

I'd like to try and make a different kind of cage theme but I honestly think I like the natural cage themes a bit too much. xD That and I'd have no idea where to store all the stuff I'd either make or buy for the cage theme. x'D

I haven't done cage themes, but have seen some good ones. It could take a lot of storage space as people who do themes often have the same wheel, bowls, bottles, tubes etc in a variety of colours.

Some colours could be used in various themes though.

I've often thought it'd be nice to do a theme but some of my hamsters have been very particular about their things being in just the right places. As others have said, it could work out being expensive to buy new items to fit the theme as well as needing space to store it all.

I use colour schemes with my hamsters cages although that's primarily so I know which items belong in which cage rather than being a theme as such.

Ah i never thought of the hamster not liking change!! thats a point - thank you. I quite like the idea of seasonal changing as its not over regular and only a few times a year, eg. birthday , christmas , halloween and easter x

I'm not quite sure why people do it actually lol! It kind of looks fun I guess and it seems to be for youtube videos, but I do sometimes wonder if it has stressed their hamster out.

It could be nice to hang things on the outside or change the paper at the back of a tank for a change, but inside the cage I wouldn't want to disturb or change things.

I can understand trying to co-ordinate items in the cage to give it a nice look, or to match the decor in the room that they're in. And I can understand adding extra little things for christmas or whatever.
But constant changes of toys and layout does seem like it would be stressful for hamsters. Though the videos can be fun to watch, I don't think it's such a great idea for most hamsters. Maybe for a play area though!

Hey!
My hamster is in a barred cage (the Alexander), but I gave him a little beach theme the other day as it was so hot I was feeling Summery! Pics are on this thread :Sweep's Beach!
It's the first time I've ever done a theme but really enjoyed it!

Edit : He wasn't stressed as all toys he either had before in his cage or had played with in his playbox! He really enjoys it, but I don't think I'd do it regularly! It wasn't very expensive, as I had most of the things. I did buy a couple of things - such as wooden chews etc - but that was about it!
