Meshing a cage is an option but as Cypher says, it can be very tricky and it needs to be safe so no sharp edges a hamster can get caught on. From what I've heard you can cut your fingers to ribbons cutting the mesh and turning the sharp edges over. Some people say meshing should be done on the inside, or the hamster can get through the bars and get trapped under the mesh. If the mesh is on the outside you would need a lot of cable ties to make sure the mesh is well and truly pressed onto the bars and no areas a hamster could get trapped under.

The other option is diy cages, but to be honest they can often work out as expensive especially when you need to buy plexiglass.

I also forgot to mention bin cages If you don't mind the idea of meshing, then a bin cage would be easier than meshing a cage. This is a good sized bin for A robo - about the biggest one I know and it's supposed to be good quality plastic for cutting (some bins crack or split when cut). There are lots of tutorials on youtube for making bin cages.

Got a Ferplast Criceti 15...it is MASSIVE...not too immediate to put together however a very good design (Italian).

Bedding got the Hemp and it does not have a bad smell like wood-shewing, Mr Squeaks seems to love it

Will post some pictures of the cage later on!

80 x 48 seems small for a syrian to me. Mine all have 100 x 50 or more. I like the design of that one but think the barney would be a better bet size wise (from zooplus, also fifty pounds).

I use hemparade bedding and fitch for my hamsters. Both are brilliant.

https://www.ferplast.com/gb/criceti-15.html this is the one!

We have a Roborovsky and he loves it, there is A LOT of space in there even for his large silent spinner wheel!

Guinea Pigs require a 120x60 (for two as minimum)... well mine have 2 linked one of 120x60 so they have a palace

Hemp is great, it does not smell bed like woodshaving and the felling is much better. Also Burges dward hamster food seems to suite him better than whatever they were feeding him at Pets at Home.
