What animal can this cage be used for?
In a previous thread I did, about getting a cage for my boyfriend, I also mentioned my current hamster Skittles cage:
Criceti 9 Hamster Cage by Ferplast | Pets at Home
Most of you said that even dwarf hamsters shouldn't live in this cage, let alone a Syrian.
Therefore, I am buying Skittles a new cage one of you kind people suggested
However, I was wondering if Skittles' old cage COULD be used for another type of rodent???

I would say its a bit too small for anything, you could keep a dwarf in it but I think it would be a bit cruel as they wouldn't really have enough space to run around
It would probably make a good carry cage for taking your pets to the vets or something though

Re: What animal can this cage be used for?
Sounds like a good idea, but I still see it as a bit big to use as a carry cage ;/
I already have a carrying container anyway, that came with an old cage I had years ago...
Hmmm, what to do, what to do

maybe you can try and build a sort of connection to another cage. that way your hamster could use both. don't know how to do it though or you could just try to sell it on ebay...
i don't really understand why the shops sell small cages like that at all...

Re: What animal can this cage be used for?
i had this cage when my syrian hamster was a baby but he out grow it very fast.
I use a cage that size for a singe chinese hamster, but reading the post above it doesnt sound liek you should even though i find it has enough room for just one.

I think annies idea sounds good, try attaching it to another cage somehow maybe.
Otherwise you could keep it as a spare cage for emergencies

Re: What animal can this cage be used for?
I think I'll keep it as a spare cage, as I don't have the space to link two cages together, let alone the expertise
Thank you all for your advice

Re: What animal can this cage be used for?
I have a small rotastak cage which I find useless as a cage on its own, but I found it really helpful when my hamster Stella had a stroke. She couldn't really walk at all at first so I needed a small cage to keep her in, but bigger than a carry case, with no levels that she could fall off or anything
That won't happen to your hammies but it will probably be a useful thing to keep just in case
