I'm in the process of hunting out a new cage for my hamster. I currently have a Mill House plastic tank, which is great because my cat can look but not touch, but is far to small though, and I want something bigger for Peanut.
A friend has a Fun Area Leon that
may be going spare, and I've seen a Hamster Heaven on the cheap too.
The only problem being is the cat may take a fresh interest in Peanut, especially if he starts bar chewing, and may try batting the side of the cage, and I'd be mortified if a claw caught Peanut. The hamster is currently in my sons room (we live in a flat so the hamster is always aware of voices and movements as we buzz about) but in the evening the tank comes into the living room.
How do other people get round the problem of multi-pets under one roof?!
And which is the better cage out of the 2?
P.S When I used to keep rats I would have 'leaker' tanks obtained from pet shops, for a very cheap price. Maybe getting another tank may be best?
I'm sure it would've been easier to have another baby...!!!
