Default Sand Bath Question

My Fiance recently bought hermit crab sand for the ham's sand baths ONLY. Is this suitable to use, and if not can you please provide information as to why not. I honestly do not want to use it, I use children's play sand.

To be honest I can't remember why some different types of sand aren't safe for hams but I do know that some aren't so to be on the safe side I would stick to play sand or chinchilla sand.

certain sands are finer that others. due to hammys bieng so small, they can breath in the dust particles.

i suggest using chinchilla SAND, i put emphasise in the word sand because you can get chinchilla dust and also chinchilla sand. go with the sand. i live in england and they have a pet shop called pets@home [im not sure if they have them where you live] but they send a bathing sand designed specifically for hamsters. i use it with my hammy toffee, and he love it :]

It's not just the fineness of the sand & dust problem Brianh96, different sands contain different things (which is the bit I can never remember ) some of which are harmful to hams.
