Default Wooden cages

I was trying to search, but did not find similar topic.

Does anyone has a cage like this

I'm waiting for Local seller to send me some information if wood is protected from urine etc and if lower shelf can be taken out (for deeper bedding).

Other possibility is this

I kind of like the first type of cage more as I can put it right next to the wall (not so big room).

For what kind of hamster? That depends of inner measurements. But most likely dwarf (not robo), perhaps Syrian if inner measurement is atleast 100 x 50 cm.

Wooden cages need to be painted to protect them, I have no idea if it would be available where you are but most people here use Plastikote water based enamel which is non toxic & safe to use.
The main problem with that second cage is the drop from the shelves, particularly the highest one, it's a long way to fall so there's always going to be a risk of accidents. The first one is better.

The first one - check what wood it is made of. Most wood cages are pine but sometimes the sellers of that one say it is made from Cedar, which I wouldn't be happy with.

The second one can be made good When you construct it - reverse the front panel and door so the door is at the top and the panel at the bottom. Leave out the bottom shelf and fill the base with very deep substrate, so the top shelf is then not far above the substrate. That way your hamster has lots of substrate to dig tunnels in and the cage is a safe height.

Otherwise you might be better making a bin cage for a dwarf hamster. Do you have an Ikea? The 78cm Samla bin is a good size.

Ikea Bin is smaller than this If From Ike than Linmonn 120cm is option or modified guinea pig cage. I plan on taking shelfs out (if possible) And deep beding of 20-30 cm.

I have a cage similar to the second one you mentioned and I modified it quite a bit to make it suitable for a syrian hamster.

I basically threw away all the wooden houses and platforms the cage came with and made my own shelfs. With the original shelfes you wouldn't be able to put a good sized wheel inside of the cage. I just used the "outer shell" of the cage in the end, which may be a waste but it looks really good. (If you haven't bought the cage yet, I'd recommend looking into a few DIY cages online because you can do a lot cheaper then this and it's almost the same amount of work. I just had to deal with what I had on hand. )

As mentioned before, you have to flip the front upside down so the door is on top. If you don't do that, you can't fit enough bedding for your hamster to dig in.

And of course you have to varnish the cage. I used paint for childrens toys which is easier to come by and just as safe when left to air dry for several days.
