I've received the Barney cage today and it seems to be massive! (I know, some people would argue that a Syrian hamster would benefit from an even bigger space - I do have plans to upgrade in the future).
I would like to ask people that have this cage to share their pictures of their setup in here. I've done a bit of a search on the forums and didn't receive that many results... And some of the older threads contained expired links to image hosting sites. I've already seen a few pictures by Serendipity7000 on my other thread. But even more examples would be appreciated!
I am going abroad for the majority of December and therefore will be setting my own cage up once I come back, shortly before getting my hamster. But I'm keen to plan the layout, accessories, etc. So, please share
The Barney does come with a good house and shelf and some people set it up using just those, a wheel and some floor toys, and plenty of substrate
I'm sure some others will come along and post some of theirs soon.
Have added a video of how my Barney was originally set up if it helps It's a bit long but you can fast forward!
This is when it was empty and I was working out a layout - added an extra shelf at the back between the wheel and the other shelf, then added the house on the right to make a third shelf. It was for an older hamster though so I was reducing the height.
I did a different layout in it when we got Newt earlier this year - partly so it wasn't exactly the same as Charlie's - with the shelf at the other end. Although I have to say it was much easier having the shelf at the left side - access to the right side is easier through the top door and I preferred having access to the house on the right side for emptying the litter tray. But it's ok either way round really.

Charlie was getting older when I got the Barney so I had to think carefully about fall risks. With a younger hamster it isn't quite so much an issue, as it isn't that tall. although having plenty of substrate to cushion falls is always a good idea
Have a look on the "Let's see your cages thread" - I'm sure there are lots of ideas and other Barney set ups on there.
Actually there aren't that many! The old thread went when photobucket pics stopped working. The new one is just from July but might still give some ideas.
