Wink Would this make a good bin cage? Also please give me tips!

Hello everyone, I just wanted to check if this storage bin would be suitable for making a cage out of?

If you don't think it would be a good cage would you please link me to some good ones?
It's getting to Christmas soon (Am I the only one excited already?) I think a big new cage would be a great Christmas present for Bambi!!!
Any tips for making a bin cage would be extremely welcome as I've never made one before, thank you!

It's not clear whether 38cm is the width/depth or the height. If it is 59cm deep and 38 high it's a good size - although only just tall enough for a syrian and syrian wheel. If it is only 38cm deep (wide) it could be a bit on the narrow side as those are maximum measurements not allowing for sloping sides. Some bins crack easily when you cut them which is something to consider.

The best bin I know size-wise is the largest RUB bin but it's not cheap (£39.95) - it is good quality apparently and easier to make into a bin cage than some others due to the quality of the plastic for cutting. It has a good depth and they are easily stackable apparently.

The internal dimensions are good - 71cm x 54.5cm deep x 40cm tall. Externally it is 81cm x 62cm deep by 43cm tall.

That looks quite a good size, I think Bambi is a dwarf? If so then the height should be ok for the wheel.
The RUB Serendipity mentioned is a good one, they are expensive but very sturdy & the straight sides do mean you get more floor space. I use one of those for one of my hams.

There's a guide to making a bin cage here, the photos have gone now thanks to photobucket but it might still help give you a good general idea of how to make one.

I would second (or third) the recommendation for RUB's. I've got about 10 of them now in varying sizes and the extra sturdiness and secure lid that you get with them makes them worth the money.

I think that looks like a great size for a bin cage but it can be hard to tell with only dimensions

Does anyone have any more suggestions for bins to use? For a little bit cheaper? I really like the bin you recommended however for that price I could probably just buy an alaska cage or something

By the time you buy a box etc to make a bin cage you could buy a premodern cage for the same cost or even less.

If you want a tank style cage. You could look at the zoozone 1 and 2. There is also the maxi dune multi and other similar cages.
