Are Cattails Hamster-Safe?
Hi there everyone! Cattails are a plant that is readily and commonly available in my area of the world, and can be used for all sorts of things including weaving and basket-making. I'm a craftsy person and I like to make toys, houses, and platforms for my hamsters, so I was wondering if anyone could weigh in regarding whether cattail stalks or the fluff from the top of a cattail are safe for hamsters.

Re: Are Cattails Hamster-Safe?
They look to be what we call bullrushes in the UK.
I wouldn't use these for hamsters. They do chew on them and these may not be safe. The seeds also are fluffy and could block up the pouches/ bowel as well as maybe piecing something.

Re: Are Cattails Hamster-Safe?
Thank you so much! I'll definitely be avoiding them then, especially the fluffy part.
