Question Recommended wheels

My hams wheel broke this morning. I have a silent spinner (6.5 inches) and the inner rim broke off. My ham can still use the wheel, but it's quite shaky and I'm scared it'll completely break while she's still on it. Does anyone know of a fairly quiet 8 inch wheel I can get in the UK? Thanks!

I would recommend either the plastic Trixie wheel or wooden Trixie wheel - I have both these wheels but the 28cm size. I find they are both fairly quite and all you can hear is the pitter patter of their feet. The wooden wheel can be Plastikote to protect the wheel and also aid with cleaning.
Here are links for both ...
Plastic 20cm - Trixie Small Pet Exercise Wheel | Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus! (also avialble on amazon)
Wooden 21cm - Trixie Wooden Exercise Wheel | Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus!

A couple of other 8” wheels I can think of are the junior wodent wheel (https://www.petplanet.co.uk/product_...446&pg_id=2767). Their is also the silent runner however that’s not available in 8” but 9” - Silent Runner 9 Inch. I don’t have any experience with these 2 wheels though.

I have a 9" wheel for our robo that is silent, but it's from rodipet in Germany. The 9" silent runner (runner not "spinner") is popular for dwarf hamsters but I decided on an open wheel for a robo. The silent runner is light and spins very well so easy for a dwarf hamster to use. The sugarglider shop sell them.

The downside is the price - it's about £22. But I've had my 12" one a long time now and it's well made and has never broken so I reckon it's worth the extra cost up front. It has a sturdy safe stand and can also be fitted to cage bars but that means buying a cage mounting plate for about another £5. My 12" one is bar mounted with the plate and it's great - spins easily and silently and I can mount it wherever I want and whatever height I want, so it sits above the substrate and gives more useable floor area.

Silent Runner 9 Inch

As CMB says, the 20cm Trixie wheel is also fine - some are quiet, some aren't. And the 9" wood trixie wheel from zooplus is silent - it's cork lined so nice for hammies feet, but it could do with the surface and wood painting with plastikote pet safe waterproofing paint.

You may not get a silent runner in your cage due to the height or even a trixie wheel so check the measurements to be sure.
I had a couple of the trixie wheels & while some do seem to be ok the noise from mine was so bad I binned them!
If you can get a silent runner in the cage then it's an exceptionally good wheel.
P@H do a wheel that looks rather like the silent spinner & is a fairly good wheel so that might be an alternative if you need something a bit smaller than the silent runner. Review here P@H silent spinner review
The rodipet wheels Serendipity mentioned are good for dwarf hams if you don't mine the price!

I have the p@h equivalent of the silent spinner and all three work well for my two Russian dwarves and my robo.

I got a wire stand separate from p@h as the stand they come with seem light and may fall over easily. You could try the wheels first and see how it goes. Then get a different stand if you like.
