Default Newly bought Trixie wooden wheel wobbles - normal? or reason to return?

Hello all

Just got a new 28 cm trixie wheel for my 13 month syrian Boo.
It looks great, is sturdy, runs smoothly but - kind of wobbles a bit.

Does anyone have experience with this wheel, am I expecting too much (perfectly balanced wheel) and most importantly: Will my hamster care?
Want him to have a smooth run
I'd post a link to the wheel but can't

It shouldn't wobble. Is it the plastic 28cm trixie wheel? They can be a bit flimsy. Maybe the stand got bent. I would suggest asking for a replacement, but if it means the postage each way is going to cost almost as much as a new one, that could be tricky.

In what way does it wobble? Do you mean the base moves around in the cage, or is the wheel doing a kind of scissors effect on the stand?

Just noticed you said it's the wood one. They can have a slight scissors effect but if it's really noticeable I'd ask them to change it. Can you do a video? If you upload it to youtube you can paste the link.

I have a 28cm Wooden Trixie wheel for my Syrian - mine has a slight/minor wobble but nothing too noticeable (similar to the wobble my plastic Trixie wheel has) and my Pumpkin can run in it without any issue.

I think the wobble has something to do with how the wheel is constructed. I would contact the company from who you purchased the wheel from and ask for a replacement if possible.

You might also find this thread useful - as another member had experience with a wobbly wooden Trixie wheel and manage to fix it - they also detail how to resolve the wobble. Trixie wooden wheel (28cms) - wobbling!

I’ve had wheels that wobble beefier. But generally they shouldn’t.
It’s most likely perfectly safe but the thing to worry about is noise if the wobble gets worse and starts hitting off the stand.
For that reason I’d return it and get one that doesn’t wobble but I’d youre not too bothered by noise or the cage is in a room that noise won’t be an issue (if it gets noisy that is) then it’s fine to leave it the way it is.

Thank you for the quick replies

@serendipity7000
Doesn't move around, just looks wobbly, made a video, easier than explaining:

@SKB_Hamsters
Thanks for linking the thread, very useful.
Did a quick search for old threads in the forum but way too many results came up due to me forgetting how to do a proper search, oops.
If the next wheel is as bad I might give it a try!

@SabreRose
Glad to hear it's at least safe, the noise is not the problem (so far)

Am writing the seller, returning the wheel as they cover the postage, hope the next one is better.

Difficult to tell from the video I could only see green. But could see it was moving and looked like scissoring but hard to tell how much. Glad you are getting a replacement
