removing droppings from nest?
I am not sure if and how often I should remove my hamsters droppings from her nest. I used to remove them every day then about every 3 days but I have become a bit more lax about this. First of all it is a bit of a faff and second I read that hamsters actually eat their droppings to reabsorb nutrients. My hamster's nest is a wooden house with 2 rooms. She sleeps in one and stores her food and extra bedding in the other and she also has all her droppings in their so she is not sleeping among her droppings. What do you advise I do?

I would leave them Some of them are probably part of her hoard. Is the room with her droppings also her toilet? Unless they start taking over I would leave them.

Re: removing droppings from nest?
I only remove them when Master Harvey leaves a pile outside his house.

Re: removing droppings from nest?
I wouldn't remove them unless they are becoming too huge of a pile. Until then, I would try to resist messing with the poo stash until it is time for a cage cleaning or she removes them from her wooden box.

I'll leave them unless they build up. She removes some herself and puts them outside her nest box. Aren't hamsters clean and organised. So cute.
