Default mesh for lid

i'm looking for mesh to make a new lid for my cage but having trouble finding any. Does any one know where I can buy mesh panels ideally that they will cut to size in the UK? The bar spacing has to be no more than half an inch or 12 cm.

I'm not sure where you can get it cut to specific sizes without paying loads extra but Wickes and Hombase as well as some B&Q's all do galvanised steel mesh in various sizes. I use 6mm mesh which I get from Homebase

I bought a sheet of mesh at B&Q, that worked perfectly for Jasper's IKEA Billy cage lid. To cut it, I bought some cheap wire cutters for around £2 in HobbyCraft and that did the job. If you are nailing the mesh to wood, there shouldn't be any issue with the sharp edges, but be careful and try to cut the mesh as the edges of the squares. I hope that makes sense.

Hi. Thanks chesca. That's useful info about the wire cutters. I've still not done a new lid but I will as the lid on the 'eco habitat' is so heavy and awkward.
