Lightbulb New Cage set up :3 What do you think?

Hey everyone!

The photos attached to this post show my new cage set up for my new hamster I'm getting on friday!

What do you guys think?

The cage originally looked a lot different but I put a divider and a new level in, so there is more space. I couldn't put a lot of substrate in the whole cage area because the wheel wouldn't fit in then. I think it's a good solution to have at least a part of the cage with very deep substrate to dig in.

The bowl beside the house will be the sand bath (I haven't put the sand in yet), just wanted to mention that so nobody thinks I've forgotten that

There are a few more toys in shipping still, but they will arrive this week!

So, do you have any suggestions what I could do better or any tips how to arrange it best?

Looking forward to you answers!
Merle

(Cage size: 760 sq inches // 13" Wheel)

I would be concerned about the drop from the shelf, even though it's fenced off with the bendy bridge a ham could climb over & have a long fall so there is a potential for injury there you might want to consider.
The house doesn't look big enough for a syrian, the area on the left under the shelf would be a better spot for a nest so you could think about putting a large house in there or just putting lots of substrate & shredded toilet tissue in there for your ham to make it's own nest.

I was concerned about the drop if the hamster climbed over the fence on the level to.

The house may be ok to start with, but it could be too small once the hamster grows up.

If the arched bendy bridge is one of the large bridges, that could be a potential nest place. It just needs some shredded toilet roll. The hamster may move tissue from the house under their on it's own.

I forgot to say before that houses with those little window holes can be a problem, if your ham can't get through the hole if it's too small they can get stuck so that's something you'd need to check.

Thanks for the advice!

Sadly I can't change the hight of the drop anymore but I've installed a hamock, so the little hammy can't fall that deep!

I've never had any problems with this type of house but I've put some nesting material under the bendy bridge as well.

The windows of the house are big enough! I know from experience... One of my hamsters got stuck in a window that was smaller than this one and getting her out of there with a bolt cutter was no fun! My late hamster fit through that window just fine ^^
I'm planning to get a bigger house anyway when the hammy is growing because you never know how big they actually get
