Re: Silent spinner?
Hi. I'm not sure of the reason, but would recommend you send it back for a refund and get the 12" Silent Runner instead - it's much better And it is silent - less bulky and a safer wheel. Only comes in orange, but what the heck! It's the best wheel I've used.

Re: Silent spinner?
Honestly I'm not sure but they're still not recommended anyways. It's also not uncommon to hear of the plastic tabs(basically what holds the colored section and white section together)coming apart or gaps being formed in any way which is a very serious safety risk(this risk seems to be more widely known in the hedgehog community though).
I'd personally just get rid of that wheel and invest in a 12 inch Silent Runner instead. It would be much safer and would give complete peace of mind, rather than a wheel that may fall apart at any moment or simply stop working! It comes in green too though,in the wide version(not a huge size difference, same exact base as the regular 12 inch Silent Runner except less than an inch wider).

Re: Silent spinner?
I'd recommend the silent runner, too. It may be more expensive up front, but will last longer so will work out cheaper in the end. I'm sure you qualify for a refund for the silent spinner, too.

Re: Silent spinner?
Mine kept unclipping the coloured bit from the white bit too! I thought it was just me, I haven't had it unscrew though. It will be going in the bin, I'm so dissapointef in it- I had read elsewhere that it's one of the best quality wheels you can buy but apparently not!

Re: Silent spinner?
They did used to be really good wheels but then they "improved" the design & they don't work well at all now!

Re: Silent spinner?
Silent runner fan here too. Three of my hamsters have them and they are lovely and quiet.
I like the orange!
