I have the Barney - it costs just under £50 (between £45 and £49 usually depending what price Zooplus has it on at). The base plastic isn't as thick as some cages, but it's ok - unless you have a hamster who chews plastic! I think you'd know if Dudley did that as he'd be doing it already. Looks like it's a good price at the moment at £44.99.

Barney Pet Cage | Great deals at zooplus!

I don't know of any other 100cm cages that cost less than that. This is my set up for our Syrian (my cage came from somewhere else and has different coloured bars so it doesn't show up so well on photos!). It's exactly the same cage, just grey bars instead of black. The black are better really.

The two below are what it looked like a year or so ago when I had it set up for our last hammy.

Pip lives in an Alaska, and I think it is perfect, she likes it and it has lots of space, and can easily be adapted with a myriad of items just let your imagination go, Pip has a "skywalk" which is hamster tubes cable tied to the roof of the cage.
I must get round to posting a pic or video of her home since I gave it a facelift at the weekend..

Dude, I wish this was true for my girl!

Unfortunately, I'm not even close to being good enough at DIY to make that, Amy

Even making the lid for a bin cage seems daunting to me!

The Alaska is also fine - and cheaper But if you want a 100cm cage the Barney is the cheapest.
