Nimal's in India, so ZooPlus probably isn't an option. There are IKEAs in India though, so there's always the option of a DIY cage (Samla bin, or Detolf).

Didn't see that, thanks Jeir. You can buy lots of good cages on Amazon. I think Amazon delivers to India? Might be a bit more expensive, but it would be worth it.

A Detolf is actually a glass cabinet, which when laid down on its side, makes an amazing hamster home. All it would need is something to seal the edges/corners, and a DIY lid. There are lots of tutorials online, but it does need a lot of room (it's 163x43cm/65x17in).

An alternative would be the Samla which is smaller than the Detolf, but does fit the minimum recommended (78x56cm/30x22in) and only really needs some ventilation added.

I'm sorry, that is annoying. In that case, I'd go with Jeir's idea

The Detolf is still narrow for a Syrian, despite being a great length. You could have a double Detolf though, which would be much better, but the height isn't great and would need a raised lid rather than a standard flat lid anyways(as without this, appropriate substrate depth would be difficult while keeping the cage escape proof).

However there are other square meter or larger cage ideas using Ikea furniture, including those which could be easier to make work for your room as the Detolf's shape may not be ideal in your case. For example, four Lack(side tables I believe, each table is around 22 x 22 or 20 x 20,but four of these with a lid made and DIY sides/front panel/etc attached makes a roughly square meter cage)side tables,or alternatively just not using any premade furniture and doing the usually less expensive option of getting melamine cut to size and making a simple DIY square meter or larger cage.

It may sound difficult, but it really doesn't have to be anything too hard to make a square meter cage, especially in the case of the double Detolf which only needs to be sealed together and have a lid made.

You could make a bin cage It's a plastic storage bin and you cut the panels out and attach mesh to the panels with cable ties, if you don't mind a little bit of diy and know someone who can use a hot knife. The 78cm Samla bin from Ikea is quite cheap at about £10 (plus the cost of the lid I think which is maybe another £3). It's the biggest bin Ikea do. It's still not as big as 80cm by 50cm but it's not a bad size and has the height to fit a syrian sized wheel. So if obtaining cages is difficult where you are, then a bin or basic diy cage might be the way to go.

You might find a plastic storage bin that's slightly bigger than that. The detolf is also from Ikea, but it is quite long. If you have space for it it makes a good tank with plenty of space. You just need to make lids out of wood and mesh.

As the others say your cage is small at about 2' by 1'6" approx - but it is difficult if parents won't allow anything else. You might be able to get them interested in helping you with a diy project though.

Does your hamster seem happy? And does he get much out of cage time? Or does he bar chew and look miserable and get aggressive? They do need a lot of exercise, particularly at night (hence needing a wheel), but some, especially older hamsters, are ok with a smaller cage. I would try and get something slightly bigger though.

An important issue is wheel safety. Not sure what wheel you have, but i know wheels are hard to come by in some countries, and open grid wire ones are dangerous. The wheel needs a solid running surface. And to be at least 8" or more in diameter for a Syrian. 11" diameter is a good size.

How old is your hammy?

Here are some examples of bin cages
