Default New Goran Cage Setup

Hi Again Folks!

I intro'd myself last week after getting our rescue Anabel, I've been lurking around to get my knowledge up on caring for our new family pet...

So I got and set up the Goran and Anabel is LOVING it so far! So happy she has more room to spread out & play, I've seen her burrowing already which she couldn't do in the critter trail she was given to me in. I'm attaching a pic of her new setup so far.

I want to add a little more to it, specifically...
  • 12" wheel - her back isn't arching yet so I have a little time, I think
  • new water bottle - I just rigged up the one from the crittertrail until I can grab a new one tomorrow
  • a hideout for her to pack with bedding and snuggle up in

Just wanted to pop on and see if you all with more experience than me have any other suggestions for must haves, things she might like or comments suggestions about what I've got in there so far...

I think I can just see her in the tube It's looking good! Yes she does need a bigger wheel asap. I would suggest adding a bit more substrate possibly, a house that's open underneath and a good size for nesting in (eg a shoebox with the base cut out and a hole cut out for a door and use the lid as a lift off roof to check inside), and maybe a bit of overhead cover so she doesn't feel exposed above. I like the rat sputniks that hang from the roof - they work well next to a shelf so the hammy can get in and out easily. Bendy bridges are popular too. She has plenty of toys in there though.

So more or less what you said on your list It's a great cage for her.

I would remove the fabric house, add more substrate at least in part of the cage, and definitely add quite a bit more roof cover as well(safe forms only, nothing fabric and no chains and the materials should be 100% digestible).

You could raise the platform up higher. It would allow space underneath for other toys. You may need a bendy bridge/wood cube next to the platform as a step.
