Digging sand and toys
Hey! My hamster loves sand - I use it in her potty, but she prefers to roll in it. Is it okay to get a deeper pot and but more sand in so she can dig around in it?
Also, my hamster doesn't like to chew toys, any suggestions on how to help that or any toys that you can recommend? She already has two types of wheel which I swap around, see-saw, pipes, etc. but I want something new that she will enjoy.
TIA

Re: Digging sand and toys
A deeper/bigger sand container is fine. Some hamsters will pee at the back and roll at the front.
Whimzee dog chews are ok for hamsters and they seem to like them.
A platform could be nice. They can climb on it or go under it. Bendy bridges can be good to.
A digging box/ deeper substrate for digging/tunnelling. Cardboard boxes/tube with food in can keep them busy.
Do you have a cage or tank? Different toys can be harder to use/setup depending which you have.

Thanks for the great ideas! She already has whimzee chews and loves them.
I have changed it around since. She now has a pipe along the back and her house is now a wooden lodge in the back right corner which she loves climbing on.

Re: Digging sand and toys
How about one of those wooden cubes with holes in. Bendy bridges are good. You can make tunnels with them by putting them next to each other.
A Sputnik could be added to the roof, but you would need something to help your hamster get in and out safely (possible tubes, a platform, bendy bridge or wood block.
If your hamster uses the upright wheel you could remove the flying saucer, giving more space for other toys.

Yes, this is an old picture. Since, I have removed one wheel and I alternate, I also have a pipe along the top at the back for her to climb in
