Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Went for a real classic ... The alexander. Going to buy some pretty cuprinol garden shades paint for all those lovely shelves and houses.
He is going to love it. Cant wait to see him exploring it and playing on his silent runner wheel. Woo hoo.
Due on the 12th or 13th of this month.

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Ah exciting! I love all those platforms! Doing my best to find a way to somehow recreate them in Mushu's new cage...

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! I would have liked to use all the shelves in Marty's Alexander, but wanted to try and keep it similar to her previous layout - I keep wondering if she would mind very much if I altered her layout so I could use them now, but she didn't much like moving cages!
She does have fun with the little houses though.
Do you have any colours in mind?

A bit like me - I went all round the houses and then got the Barney I would have got the Alexander if it had been in stock at the time. Robin will love it!

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Good luck AprilPearl. I made Gopal an extra platform out of plywood which he liked. Not sure where it is atm. May dig it out for Kashi. Very easy to make.
Scarlett perhaps you could just add a shelf at first somits not too much of a change. She sounds like such a lively hamster!!!
Serendipity I remember when you were deciding what cage to get. I had white bar envy from your barney. Still wish mine were white!

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Thanks flowerfairy! Oh, you made a shelf from plywood? I was thinking of doing that as plywood seems easy to come by, but Amity told me that plywood wouldn't be safe to use. So, I should be fine just using regular plywood then? Or is there a specific type which is not safe? Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread!

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Just googled it and the consensus seems to be that ply is best avoided. Would not want to endanger the lovely Mushu!

Re: Just ordered a new cage for Robin
Oh dang. I was hoping it was safe after all! Ah well, thanks very much for checking looks like I am going to be buying some platforms rather than making them as I can't for the life of me find safe wood in the correct size for platforms... Might get expensive as I am going to get them custom made to the correct length. Mushu is worth it though!
