Question What bedding to use?

Hi,
I'm planning on getting a hamster in about 2 months and I don't really know what bedding is best. I live in Holland and I can't find aspenwood bedding I found this bedding: Back 2 nature bedding and litter. Is that an okay bedding? I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Could you provide a link? some members may find that helpful

As for whether it's any good, you're going to get mixed answers I feel. Some hamster owners like it a lot, others think it's suitable, and then some don't like it. Personally, I don't really like this bedding. Hamsters are burrowers and this bedding won't hold tunnels very well due to its shape which means they cannot create all the burrows that they'd naturally like to. Are there any other options out there? If you have no other choice I'd say you could use this bedding, but I'd really recommend something else first. Have you tried online shopping

If you can't get a good paper based substrate you may be able to get hemp which is safe & good for burrows, very absorbent & fairly dust free too.
If I got the right zooplus site you can get it here.

Thanks! I can find hemp bedding in almost every store so it is really nice to hear that that's safe. I also found this: Carefresh Natural | Kleindier | Bestellen . Is that okay/safe?

That's good that hemp is so easy to find for you, I used to use it for my hams before I found fitch (a UK paper substrate) but still use it with the fitch & I really like it.
Carefresh can be a quite dusty & have an odd smell sometimes but it is safe enough.

Personally I would say so, some people use carefresh with no problems, other people have found it too dusty & can possibly cause respiratory problems but that is unusual, so it's a personal choice as much as anything.

I also found beech wood shavings in my pet shop. Is that safe to use. The package says that it is dustfree, but are there any dangerous chemicals in beech wood.

I'm not 100% sure about beech tbh but I have an idea it's not considered safe.

I'd stick to hemp. It's not as likely to cause an allergic reaction as wood, therefore it would be the safer choice.
