Unfortunately, I think that cage is much to small at only 287 sq. inches. Personally I would never house my hamster in a permanent cage that was less than 500 sq. inches. The levels shown in the cage don't add any extra floor space, because in the wild hamsters are usually not climbing animals and spend most of their time on the ground running around and foraging.
Furthermore, I have found that hamsters tend to pee, sleep, and eat in tubes that lead outside their cage. Besides being absolutely disgusting, this practice can cause the spread of dangerous bacteria.
If you need any extra convincing, the cage height, at only about 10 inches isn't suitable. Dwarves need around 6 inches of bedding, and the smallest possible size of wheel would be around 6.5 inches in diameter, leading to a minimum 12.5 inches in height for dwarves.

I would say it is a bit on the small side for any species really, which dwarf species are you planning to get? They all have slightly different needs.

Some fairly good sized cages are the Hamster Heaven, the Grosvenor rat & ham cage both available from various places online, Zooplus do some good cages too, the Alaska is a little tall so needs careful set up but is still good for dwarf hams also the barney or alexander would be suitable, any barred cage needs bar spacing of no more than 1cm.
There area also tank style cages like the Duna multy but I think the top needs meshing with that one as the spacing is too big.

Hi Cypher,

I'm planning on getting a winter white Russian dwarf hamster. My size limits are about 75x40 cm. Is that big enough and do you know a good cage with about that size?

Thanks already for the tips.

The Duna Multy or the Duna Fun Large are that size The Fun Large is just a larger version of the cage you were looking at before and the Multy is the same cage only without the platforms and tubes (and half the cost).

A diy cage can be made to fit any space. Possibly one of the Ikea furniture/cage hack would be the right size.

The bar spacing on the Multy and Fun Large are the same as the Mini Duna. I can't remember the measurements but they're the right size for Russians so they don't need meshing

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the duna multy maxi, at least I think that's the one, the larger one anyway! I do get confused with tank style cages as I don't use them!

75x40 is quite small really, I tend to think of about 80x50 (it may not seem much bigger but even that isn't that large once everything is in it) as a good minimum although all hams are different with what they like.
If you plan on putting the cage on a table, chest of drawers or something like that you can allow for some overhang as cages are heavy enough with all the substrate in to be plenty stable enough.
Have a think about what you'll need in the cage, a 20cm wheel (the right size for a Russian) with substrate underneath or a shelf of some sort to stand on takes up a fair bit of space, then you need a house, toys, sand bath.
If you are really stuck for space then maybe a DIY bin cage would be the best idea to fit what you have.

I've only seen the Multy Maxi in person once but it has very large bar spacing so it would definitely need meshing

My 3 Russian's are all happy in their approx 70 x 40cm cages (1 Fun Large and 2 bin cages) and I know a lot of other people's dwarf hamsters are too. I agree though, it depends on the hamster. My Marcello is blind, nervous, and hates large spaces so he has a 70 x 40 bin cage that's FULL of hiding spots and toys but he's huge (easily twice the size of my smallest Russian Stephano) so he if he was more confident then he would most likely need a larger cage.

Monster, I can post photos of my hamster's setups for an idea of the cage size when filled with everything?
