Default Possible New Cage for Tumble...

I was just wondering if this cage would be an ok size for a fully-grown (?) syrian hamster?

these cages are always better for dwarf hamsters rather than the syrians, however i did move Molly into a Gabber Lux cage because of her bar biting and the fact that her nose was going bald.

I found Molly's cage on eBay second hand and in good condition, my Winter Whites are in the same model which I got from babyboos hamstery when I had the Roborovski. You just have to look around really

The Gabber Rex is ideal for a fully grown Syrian. Here is our Bailey who now weighs a massive 174 GRAMS in hers. You will notice we changed the wheel for a Savic Rollly Jumbo and drilled a lower hole in the side so she could reach the water bottle when she was little. Try googling Gabber Rex and you should come up with quite a few places selling this cage online or you could ask your local petshop to order you one in which is what we did. You could also try typing it in on eBay you don't mind a used cage. Sometimes it is advertised on eBay as a 'tank-type' hamster cage.

Although I love my Gabbers I have always tended to keep my dwarf hamsters in them rather than my Syrians. I personally would go for a Campbridge or large Ferplast barred cage (such as the Rainbow) unless Tumble is really annoying you with bar biting? The Ferplast Duna you have posted is what I use for my Campbells Russian Dwarf Hamsters. Maybe it is because I can stack them easier that I use wire cages for my Syrians, or because they all seem to love to monkey bar so much - I am not sure

Surrey Pet Supplies are a good online retailer for all sorts of cages, or check out this old thread:

Yeah, Tumble's obsessed with chewing the bars which, as most people probably know, makes a lot of noise

Also, we've got some cousins coming up from England over Christmas, so someone has to sleep on the pullout bed in the couch and would be kept up all night by Tumble who's cage is in the living room.

Gabber Rex are available from my supplier in Blue, Granite, Green, White or Yellow bases for £29.99 including VAT just now (they are doing a special £5 off for December deal)

SAVIC Cambridge are £37.99 including VAT - same price as Pets at Home I think? Emma can you confirm please :P

I am sure I have seen the Gabber on eBay recently for less but I don't remember the postage and packing sorry. Look under Home and Garden / Pet Supplies / Hamster.

Try putting him in the bathroom over night on an old towel to help deaden any noise.

Lol I think actually the Cambridge was £37.50 at PAH, about the same. I found it cheaper online but then when you added postage in it took it to over £40.
