Default WIre mesh substitute?

I ordered a zoozone 2 which should be coming very soon for my 2 dwarf hamsters. But I recently discovered the bars are too big and can't go out to get any wire mesh to cover it up. Anyone know of any good substitutes?

There really isn't any substitute for wire mesh. You could try zip ties but that would take a lot of patience and would be nowhere near as reliable as mesh You don't want to attempt to use any household wire shelving or anything like that either,as the paint cannot ever be verified as safe so being within access(including as a lid)of a hamster is extremely dangerous.

What's the reason that you can't get any? I see, from a previous post, that you live around Bromley / Chislehurst. There's a B&Q in Sidcup (Crittalls Corner, Sidcup Bypass Passage, Sidcup DA14 6LX) and they normally stock it - I bought this stuff Wire Mesh (W)900mm (L)600mm | Departments | DIY at B&Q in my local B&Q; it was in the garden / outdoor section. I think Homebase also have some similar stuff.

As Amity says, I'm not really sure there is an alternative to wire mesh
