Default Are crittertrail tubes(and other plastic tubes) safe?

Are they safe for all hamsters, certain hamsters, or no hamsters? I do not currently have any in my cage but I've seen them in stores and was wondering if they were a safe option for cages.
Thank you in advance.

I don't know about the crittertrail ones specifically but the main thing with plastic tubes is that they are often too small for syrians to fit through comfortably (especially with full pouches!) some hams will choose to sleep, eat, nest & pee in plastic tubes which is really unhealthy.
Cardboard tubes, seagrass tunnels or cork are a much better option.

I wouldn't say that they were unsafe as such unless you had a particularly chewy hamster who might chew the plastic to the point that pieces come off but you may find that some tubes are unsuitable for some larger Syrians simply because they just won't fit through them with ease and may get stuck. As Cypher has also pointed out, the ventilation may not be as good as a more natural choice if your hamster decides to make their nest in one.

With a few bits of caution, tubes are fine. In particular, make sure your hammy
- isn't too chubby to fit through comfortably
- doesn't start nesting, peeing or hoarding in there - if so you'll need to remove the tubes for a while

Inky has some Ferplast tubes rescued from her first cage, a Ferplast. They're in her Alexander, one set runs inside along the top to connect the two levels, and one connects the ground nad first floor. I knew she'd missed them when she started running along inside them before I'd finished installing them

Crittertrail cages, of course, are crap, without exception

As the others have said, they should be fine as long as your hamster can comfortably fit inside them and won't chew or sleep in the tubes. Because the tunnels are ridged, hamsters are more likely to chew them than mostly smooth tubes like ferplast tubes so inspect the tunnels occasionally for bite marks
