Default Is it my the hamster or the hamster bedding?

My hamsters in the past haven't had any problems with my allergies (i guess i have an allergy?). I just got a new hamster not too long ago. When i clean her cage each time my throat becomes irritated, i wheeze a lot, i sneeze, i cough, etc. Growing up as a kid i had asthma. It went away years later. I'm worried that my asthma is coming back! None of my past hamsters had this problem with me. Is it my new hamster or the bedding? Or both of them? I don't wanna get rid of my new hamster! But cleaning out her cage is a nightmare for my allergies! What could this be?

It's the bedding(aka substrate). If it's wood based or hemp based, then that is a very common thing to be allergic to and even hamsters can be allergic to both of those so it would be a very simple matter of setting up a temporary cage with low dust paper based substrate(Kaytee Clean and Cozy would be a very good choice)and thoroughly cleaning the cage with warm water after removing the things inside the cage of course

If you're using a paper substrate, there are very few that are actually good.Carefresh for example is one that used to be popular but very few people like it anymore,as it is just far too dusty without airing it out(only a good option when absolutely nothing better is available even ordered online).Off brand Carefresh(Critter Care and such, made by the same manufacturer as Carefresh but just as bad)is also extremely dusty, and would cause problems.

This is really the same subject as your last thread & I think you got all the answers we can give you there, we can only guess really but as suggested by everyone in the other thread it is most likely the substrate.
