Re: Syrian hamster hideaways!?
We struggled with this as well. Some hams love digging downward and trying new homes. Our hams likes digging sideways, horizontally, only. So after some trial and error we've found success burying an empty tissue box upside down atop some soft bedding and leaving the door open, then covering that with a bendy bridge tunnel and surrounding it with more bedding. Then we place a bit of his old (cleanish) bedding and scraps in the tissue box hut. He prefers this to all of the pricey toys hanging out in our closest. He also loves toilet paper (not the roll, he's too big). We find bendy bridges to be our best investment. He likes to use them as tunnels to bury treasure in.
