Bins aren't too pricey depending upon where you get them from. Have you checked for used ones? Try looking on a website like gumtree/Craigslist to see if there's any bins or tanks people aren't using anymore! Garage sales are also awesome places to look

If you're able to somehow get the two cages to connect then that would be good for the time being and would buy you some more time before needing to upgrade!

She'll be fine in the smaller cage until you can save up for a bin (I already mentioned the wilko ones are quite cheap), don't worry Just make sure she has lots to explore and play with. Her cage probably feels like a mansion compared to the pet shop cages, anyway

If you want to connect the cages still, you'll need mesh, something to attach the mesh with, wire cutters, a knife, and a tube adapter with fitting tubes. You need to cut a square of wire from the cage so you can fit one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ferplast-Fp.../dp/B001N03RRY to it, then cut a hole the exact size of the tube in the bin. I suggest cutting the bin whole higher and then having a tube leading down to the floor of the bin so that she can't chew around the edge of the hole.

Could I use one of the cage doors as the cap for the tube in my cage ?

Hi. I wouldn't try and connect a bin to her current cage. She will be fine in it until you get something bigger. They do better with one continuous floor area, rather than two cages joined together. The largest Samla bin from Ikea is only £10 Then you would need some mesh, some cable ties and something to cut the bin - I believe people use a hot knife - or a heated up stanley knife, but I'm not an expert in bin cutting. The Samla bin meets the old minimum size, although for a robo you could go bigger. Are you in the Uk or US?

you'd have to measure and make sure it will fit without leaving gaps she can get out of but it will work if it fits

Connecting bins is fine and if done right can be continuous floor space That's the difficult part though, since it seems easier to use tubes and such but that just doesn't count as floor space, which is why connecting bins to cages rather than just to other bins it's a lot harder if not potentially impossible!

As for tools,a wood burning knife will be fine. You just connect bins directly with zip ties(they'll be pressed against each other, sometimes for sloped sides you'll need to have the slightest bit of a height increase with a bin in the center for that)and do the standard meshed lid procedure as with any other bin It isn't complicated,it's just a bit of extra work, and other than that it's definitely one of the best cage options out there if done right!

I use a hot knife to cut the plastic.
