I made 70 x 40 bin cages for 2 of my Russians for £13 each I got a 70 x 40 storage box from wilko for £10 and mesh for £3 (also wilko).

There's tutorials online but basically, you cut a panel out of the side or lid of the box and cover it using mesh.

Would it be ok if I expanded it by connecting a bin cage ?

What size bin cage were you thinking of using? If the bin cage is the recommended minimum size then you can but it might not be necessary.

If you're thinking of adding a bin that's similar size to this cage then it's good as a temporary option but really it's better to have one larger cage than two or more smaller cages connected so that there's more space for them to run and burrow.

When my youngest Russian, Marcello, was still very scared of large spaces, I had him in two connected mini duna's so he could adjust to having more space before I upgraded him to a larger cage.

It was because I have a bin but I haven't measured it so your saying if it is minimum size it would be a suitable place ? If so thanks for the the advice

Also my hamster loves tunnels so I thought having a few tunnels would make him happy

A bin cage can make a great cage for a robo if it's big enough, one thing above all else robos love to do is dig & burrow! A bin cage allows you to have really nice deep substrate which they love.
I can't see if you have a sand bath in your cage?
It is important for robos to have one & they do love them, any container big enough to dig & roll in will do & you need to use chinchilla sand (not dust).
Tunnels are great, just cardboard tubes are good & they love egg boxes too!

So since my cage is 57 x 32 and the bin is sadly only 57x39 I think I will just have to save up for a bigger bin :"(
