Ferplast Combi One Fun Cage Size?
Hi!
I'm new here, and I just got a hamster about 3 weeks ago. I've got some questions about my cage. My cage is a Ferplast Combi One Fun, not just the Combi One because the Combi One is way too small. I'm afraid that it might not be big enough for my Syrian, as it's only 40.5cmx29.5cm. I would like like some feedback on this cage, and if it does turn out to be too small, I'm already planning on getting a bin cage to connect with this one in two weeks when we get my hamster's new toys. Thanks in advance!

Re: Ferplast Combi One Fun Cage Size?
Hi Kyle, welcome! Unfortunately this cage is indeed too small. In my country, the minimum size for a Syrian is 100cmx50cm but even your local minimum will probably be higher.
You do have several options here, though! One is what you were already planning to do, which is getting a bin cage to connect. Ideally the area of the bin cage is equal to the minimum area, as that is preferable to the hamster. Another option is to buy an other ferplast cage that you can attach to the combi one fun. In that case, I would recommend the Criceti 100. The third option is to get a new cage. I recommend the barney cage from zooplus. The final option is getting an (old) aquarium or terrarium. You can often find these pretty cheaply second hand or depending on your location in pet stores.

Hi Kyle & welcome to HC.
You are right about your cage being too small & they generally do better with one large area than smaller areas connected.
Zooplus has a few options (if you're in the uk) as well as the Barney that Amity mentioned the Alaska is a very popular cage that would also be suitable.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll probably just go with the bin cage plan and connect the cage and the bin together with a tube, as the cage options here are limited and they're way too small. I hope my hamster will like it!

Yes, that's probably the best (and cheapest) idea. Show us pics of it when you're done!
Oh, and what's your hamster's name?

You can still use the combi as a carrying cage if you ever have to take your hamster to the vets or something

Re: Ferplast Combi One Fun Cage Size?
Carrying cages and travel cages are always good to have!As for a main cage, you mention a bin.Have you considered a bin system instead of just one bin?Directly connected bins provide more space than any modular cage and they can be a square meter or more in floor space,if connected properly and using the right size and amount of bins.Because of the expandable nature with actual floor space increase(rather than modular cages which do nothing)they're one of the most suitable choices for Syrians, and if you don't make them expensive they're a very cost effective choice.

Re: Ferplast Combi One Fun Cage Size?
To answer some questions:
Where am I based?
I'm based in Macau, China.
What's my hamsters name?
Sankey
When will I get my bin cage?
Probably this weekend or the next.
About the bin cage system, I'll probably just stick to one bin and connect it to the cage mentioned above as I don't have much space :/
P.S. If anyone has any good tutorials on making bin cages (with as little tools as possible, as it's quite hard to get tools here but if they're required it's fine)? Thanks in advance!
