Which wheel
Hi
So my Pickles is loving her wheel so much that now it starting to come off it's hinges! She runs like an Olympian! Haha!
Was going to get her a new wheel as this one now sounds like a fret train bumping an banging along.
Just to check the silent spinner 12 inch is best for Syrians? She is a rather big Syrian!
Currently in the Trixie 12 inch but not so silent anymore!

Re: Which wheel
Silent spinners don't work well any more so aren't the best wheels, the silent runner or wodent wheel are about the best available.

Re: Which wheel
Silent Runners are the best of all They're better quality and safer than Wodent Wheels, and are actually true silent wheels unlike other "silent" wheels(especially the Silent Spinner, those either don't work at all or stop working soon after purchasing them and never stay silent).

Re: Which wheel
I haven't had any problems with my Silent Spinner. I know because I have one for my Syrian hamster, who isn't small and will soon be getting a 11" wheel. The only sound I hear at night is her nails clicking against the plastic and that's if I'm really listening for the noise. A 12" would be OK but some people prefer a Wodent Wheel for that size since it has a lid with holes in it so your hamster can get in but not fly out. My hamster has never flown out of her Silent Spinner and she runs really fast.

Re: Which wheel
I think that Silent Spinners are some of the worst on the market though. You're lucky for now,but it won't last forever.I think they're incredibly overpriced(12 inch cost way more than a Silent Runner and Silent Runners actually stay silent and are worth spending money on)for something that maybe lasts a few months if you're lucky.
I wouldn't take a risk on inferior wheels when a good investment of a Silent Runner is so easy They're cheaper than a Silent Spinner, have no axle(serious safety concern in other wheels such as the Wodent Wheel and Comfort Wheel),have a solid stand(Silent Spinners,Comfort Wheels, and many other poor quality wheels do not have this, and this is a serious safety concern between hamsters getting trapped among other things),the enclosed front(hamsters cannot go flying out with the Silent Runner, and even if you haven't experienced this yourself with open wheels it doesn't mean open wheels are completely safe when you can simply avoid a huge risk rather than just act like it doesn't exist),etc.
Wodent Wheels don't stay quiet either let alone silent, and they're still relatively unsafe compared to a Silent Runner with only one safety feature that is improved compared to the poor quality wheels on the market.

Re: Which wheel
I didn't have to buy my Silent Spinner because I got my hamster for $15 with a cage, water bottle, food dish, some food, and the Silent Spinner wheel which has been silent for about 9 months. You can easily pop off the stand and hook it up to a wire cage to make it more safe. If you do it like I did then it's OK to get a Silent Spinner, but when it comes to bigger wheels I have to admit, Silent Spinners shouldn't be the first option.
