To me, it seems perfectly safe and would be fine, if set up properly. Just make sure there is a soft landing below and it isn't too tall. I guess you could always cut it down as well. The branches look beautiful in a natural themed cage.

I know of no places near me which sell pieces of wood/branches that would be hamster-appropriate. The only thing I can think of is maybe a pet shop that would sell driftwood for fish tanks but I don't know if that's even made of real wood. If and when I get the branch in the picture, I'll be sure to thorughly check it over for dangerous holes or grooves which would be unsafe but if there were any I would just return it.

Yeah, I thought it would be fine and since another experienced hamster owner reccomended it to me I thought it would be just fine. And I do agree it would look nice in a natural themed cage

Sometimes you might have a local fish store which sells driftwood without even knowing it!This can be a wonderful solution,if you're lucky.

As for standard pet stores,I know that chain pet stores do in fact tend to sell some safe wood as long as you can find out what kind of wood it is.I've found grape driftwood at Petco,Petsmart,Petsupermarket, etc. If you find Mac's(sometimes Mac's Critter Creations I believe,or something along those lines!)then that would be fine to use as long as it specifically states what wood it is on the tag.Grape driftwood is extremely common, but so is mopani which is unsafe

If local pet stores are possible check there as well, since if they have a basic fish or reptile section they most likely will carry some form of driftwood and that is generally a guarantee that you'll find grape.

If you go to a pet store and find lava rock(fish or reptile section, not the artificially dyed or questionable nonsense in the small animal section),that can be a great option as well since unlike smooth rocks it will actually help to keep nails trimmed.Just make sure to rinse it as good as possible with hot water, and preferably freeze it after for at least two days as with any natural material type of item.

Ok, and you amity! I have been looking this afternoon and I saw Petsmart had grape wood. I do have a local pet store but I doubt they would have much selection as far as wood goes, they hardly have much for fish and reptiles (mostly pet food). I guess it would be worth checking but who knows if I would have any luck.

Just dun put it near any wheel.

I am starting to imagine my hamster being injured after being thrown out of the wheel.
