Question Ferplast Favola Cage

For those of you who own the Ferplast Favola hamster cage (or have owned one previously), what is your opinion of it? I would be using it for a dwarf hamster. The lower level would be filled with Carefresh for burrowing and the upper level would hold toys, food, water, wheel, etc. Thank you.

The Favola would just hit a minimally acceptable size for a robo or Chinese, although there are much better cages on the market in terms of size.Definitely not for anything larger than a robo or Chinese though.

I wouldn't use Carefresh,it just isn't that good of a substrate. It's really only a last resort option that would be fine for those who simply cannot find any alternative higher quality paper-type substrate(not even online).

I don't have one but looking at the dimensions (if you mean this one) I'm not sure you'd be able to get a 20cm wheel in the top part if you completely filled the base with substrate & the overall size is small for most dwarf hams.
You'd probably do better with something like the hamster heaven which (without all the accessories) is larger & the base is just about deep enough for a nice digging depth leaving room for a wheel on top.

Which dwarf species are you thinking of having? They all have different needs when it comes to cages & set ups.

With the level portion in,it would be pretty much impossible to fit in a high quality wheel(definitely not the 9 inch Silent Runner, which is best for any species other than Syrians including robos and Chinese).

Barney Pet Cage | Great deals at zooplus!

That would work for any dwarf species, but the price is much better and you could definitely fit a 9 inch Silent Runner.

To be honest, for the price (£60 on Amazon), I think you have better options, especially if you're in the UK. The Barney cage Amityville linked is cheaper, has suitably narrow bar spacing, and is bigger. The Alaska (also Zooplus) would also work well, and is even cheaper.

Carefresh, while not perfect, is a safe bedding. However, it can work out very very expensive, which is why a lot of people on here use Fitch, which is a much cheaper, and less dusty, alternative https://www.fitchrecycling.co.uk/ani...t-bedding.html

Thank you, InkyPen, for your response and useful suggestions. I'm in Canada. I was going to buy the Hamster Heaven recommended by Cypher, but the $139.99 shipping charge was going to put the total to $300 so I changed my mind. Zoe's current set up is a Living World deluxe rabbit habitat with a small hamster cage in the middle. She goes back and forth between the two so she has a lot of space. Both have the same toys, water, food, etc, but I noticed she spends most of her time in the smaller cage, especially when sleeping. The bottom tray of the rabbit habitat is high enough that she can't get out of it.
