Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Hi I have a little WW hybrid, at the moment she is using the small flying saucer but I would prefer to get her an upright wheel. I already own a wodent wheel senior for my Syrian and it's a good wheel and fairly silent so was wondering if a wodent wheel junior would be good for Rosie? I also like the safety of the front covered to prevent them from flying off the wheel and hurting themselves.

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I'd say a Wodent Wheel 8 in or a Silent Runner (better ) 9in yellow
The Wodent wheel has a center axle where the Silent Runner doesn't.
WW may not need or not need a center axle but it's a good feature
The Silent Runner has bearings that need to be oiled every time you clean the wheel
Both my Silent Runners have needed replacement bearings but they are free if you order them from exoticnutrition.com or sugar gliders on e-bay
In the UK you may not be able to go directly to the manufacturer for replacements
I might be the only one with this problem? Who knows? I'd still order another Silent Runner

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
The silent runners are quite expensive though aren't they? But a very good wheel. Yes I like that the wodent wheel comes apart and can be cleaned easily and can be oiled or greased to keep the wheel running well. I might go for the wodent wheel on pet planet it is 13 which is reasonable and I like the light blue and white.

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Wodent wheels seem to be really hard to get hold of at the moment but the 8" would be fine, as CB suggested the 9" silent runner (not spinner!) is a great wheel for them, enclosed like the wodent wheel, silent & easier to clean, it is expensive though.
P@H do a wheel that looks very much like a silent spinner but actually works, another suitable wheel is the 20cm Karlie wonderland wheel from Zooplus, they also do the plastic trixie wheel but I found those to be horribly noisy!

One of my robos has a light blue and white 8in Wodent wheel. I like that wheel a lot myself. If you can get one i'd go for that

They may cost more but they're worth the extra cost. They are far more durable, and also much safer than any other wheel on the market. You can always save money elsewhere to compromise for the extra cost of a Silent Runner, but it isn't like the wheel will only last for one hamster. It will last several hamster lifespans, unlike other wheels that cost less which are far less reliable.

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I spent $20 on a Silent Spinner from Pet-co for some reason, probably because it spins freely and is not defective. I don't need anymore wheels.
I find that all the wheels are about the same price, unless the Silent Runner has upped their price?

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Silent runners tend to be more pricey than other wheels, but sensibly so as they're very high quality! Some like the silent spinner, others, not so much. I personally hate the silent spinner! I have two different sizes, the 4.5 (which was never used for any hamster, just bought it because it looked cute) and the 12 inch. However, both are stiff, easily jammed, and the furthest thing from silent! If you absolutely MUST use a silent spinner, no harm will come of it, but it's definitely a waste of money as it doesn't work well and won't last too long

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Thanks for all your help. Postage is incredibly pricey on pet planet :/ any where else I can purchase? I am not too kean on the silent spinners and don't think they are very silent after a while! How come the WWs are so hard to get?
